Is Hiring a Team the Best Move for Aspiring Children's Authors?

I'm curious has anyone here considered working with a professional childrens book writing company ? I'm wondering if it's truly necessary or just an added expense. Can these companies actually capture your vision better than doing it yourself? I'd love to hear from people who have either partnered with one or decided to go the independent route. What would you do differently next time? Is the investment worth it for a first time author?
