Need Help Understanding Sample Size Impact in Diffusion Experiments

Hi everyone, I’m working on a small project related to diffusion measurements, and I’m stuck on one part. I’m trying to understand how much changing the sample size (thickness/volume) affects the accuracy of diffusion coefficient results.

Is there a general rule or recommended ratio between the sample size and the diffusion distance to keep errors manageable? I’ve read a few papers but the explanations feel very theoretical, and I’d really appreciate some practical advice or examples from real experiments.

If anyone has worked with similar setups, could you share what worked for you or any pitfalls to avoid?
Thanks in advance!

If you want, I can also:

Add references or supporting details
Adjust the technical level (more basic or more advanced) ragdoll hit
Tailor it to a specific topic in diffusion (e.g., gases, polymers, membranes)
